Walmart/Department store bikes have short wheelbases and are tall (not stable and hard to get on and off of). They have coaster brakes (which makes it impossible to backpedal and get comfortable with pedal rotation when learning. Also, coaster brakes make it super difficult to ride on trails because to get their pedals even going over roots or turns, the bike will brake!
